//What it does

Press a button. Or say what you hear.

  1. Generate

    One click builds a complete screech in a second or two and loads it. It grows around the character of the stock presets, so the new ones stay in the genre. Random opens the spread wider when you want it stranger.

  2. Type it

    Describe the sound: dark angry long dive with metal wire noise. Type in English, typos are forgiven, and words like no noise, a bit brighter and numbers work. German, Spanish, Dutch and French work too.

  3. Eight macros

    The sound sits on a few big knobs, plus a dive graph with three handles. Shape a screech by ear, not by menu. Every control is a host parameter, so it can be automated.

  4. 40 stock presets

    Made for Hard Techno, Neo Rave, Uptempo & Any Genre You Are Producing. Save your own as .screech files, rename, export, share, or drop a file on the window.

  5. Comes out finished

    Distortion with its own filter, EQ, compressor, reverb, delay and an IR Reverb with five impulse responses. Pre-comp Reverb and IR Reverb sit before the compressor, so the tail breathes with the sound.

  6. Plays well

    MIDI in, an on-screen keyboard, glide, legato, pitch bend. A note range folds out-of-range notes back by whole octaves, so every key you hit lands inside the riff.

Built to stay out of your way

  • LocalGenerate and the prompt run on your computer. No network needed.
  • OfflineThe network is used only for the licence. A licensed copy keeps working without a connection.
  • InstrumentMonophonic, made for leads: one note at a time. A new note cuts the one before it and restarts the dive. Legato and Glide give slides.
  • HostEvery control is a host parameter. Automate Pitch time, Filter, Drive or Sweep to move a screech through a build.
  • VisualsThe green scene moves with the mouse and with what you play. When the computer is busy it lowers its own visual quality, the sound is never affected.

Requirements

macOS 12 or newer. AU and VST3, one universal build for Apple silicon and Intel.

VST3. The editor needs the Microsoft WebView2 runtime.

Any DAW that loads AU or VST3 instruments (AU is macOS only).

Quick answers

macOS says it cannot verify Screecher

Open System Settings, then Privacy and Security, scroll to the message that names Screecher and press Open Anyway. Restart your DAW. If the message came from the installer, Control-click the installer and choose Open instead of double-clicking it.

Which DAWs does it work in?

Any DAW that loads AU or VST3 instruments. AU is macOS only, VST3 works on Mac and Windows.

Is it polyphonic?

No. It is a monophonic instrument: one note at a time, a new note cuts the one before it. Legato and Glide give you slides between notes.

Does it need the internet?

Only for the licence. Generate and the prompt run on your computer, and a licensed copy works offline.

How many computers? Can I move it?

Two computers on one key, Mac and PC can share it. To move to a new machine, deactivate the old one in the licence window and activate the new one.

How do updates work?

Screecher checks once a day and shows a quiet Update available line in the prompt panel. Install the new version over the old one. Your presets live in their own folder, outside the plugin. Updates are free.

Can I save my own presets and share them?

Yes. When a screech is right, save it as a preset and give it a name. Open it again any time, push a macro a little further and save again: a preset is a starting point you can keep refining. Every preset exports as a .screech file, so you can send it to a friend or move it to your other computer, and importing is as easy as dropping the file onto the plugin.

Can I use the sounds in commercial releases?

Yes. Everything you make with Screecher is royalty-free. Put it in your releases, commercial ones included, with no credit and nothing to pay.

Can I download it again?

Yes. Your licence key stays on your order in your Sample Agency account. If you need the installer again, contact us and we will send it.
