One knob does the work

AMOUNT sets how hard it hits. The mode sets the kind of hard.

    Turn it up

    0 to 100 per cent. Full travel adds about 6 dB.

  2. 2

    Zero is true bypass

    AMOUNT at 0 leaves the sound as it was. Latency is a fixed 4 samples in every mode.

    A fixed ceiling

    The output stays just under 0 dBFS.

For a clean kick, set LOW SPLIT to 120 to 200 Hz.

Small on purpose

Nothing hides in a menu.

The bottom row of the HARDEN window: the ON key, a MIX knob, the four mode keys Glue, Phat, Grit and Fold, an OUTPUT knob and the AUTO key.
  • Low split Off, 20 to 400 Hz Everything below it goes round the distortion.
  • Auto On or off Matches the level to the original, so you hear tone, not volume.
  • Mix 0 to 100 per cent Blends the dry signal back in after processing.
